Overview
Transmit is a Mac OS X application used for FTP and SFTP. The first thing you'll need to do is download a copy of Transmit at http://www.panic.com/transmit/. Please follow the installation steps to install the application on your computer.
The following tutorial is provided as a courtesy to our customers to help you configure your ftp software to work with (mt) Media Temple's hosting solutions.
Third-party software can not be supported directly by (mt) Media Temple. If you have further questions about configuring Transmit, please visit http://www.panic.com/transmit/support.html.
Requirements
Before you start, be sure you have these handy:
- Server name: Your access domain or example.com. example.com or your IP address.
- Username: Your primary domain or FTP username.
- Username: Your FTP username.
- Password: Your FTP password.

Instructions
The following instructions create your FTP connection as a favorite.
- Launch Transmit.
- Click on the plus "+" symbol to begin.
- Enter the settings for your server.
- Nickname: example.com or s00000.gridserver.com
- Nickname: example.com or your IP address
- Under More Options:
- Port: 21 for FTP, 22 for SFTP
- Please check "Use passive mode."
- Root URL: s00000.gridserver.com
- Root URL: example.com or your IP address
- Remote Path (optional): /domains/example.com/html/ httpdocs/
- Local URL (optional): Optional.
- Click "Save" button to save this under your Favorites.
