The following article contains instructions on how you can point your domain's email hosting to Media Temple.
There are two DNS records required to point email to Media Temple:
- MX-record pointing to mail.example.com (replacing example.com with your domain name).
- A-Record pointing to your mail server IP address.
You can find your Mail Server IP address in your Server Guide under the EMAIL SETUP Section:
Make sure you check your domain's nameservers! By running a WHOIS lookup or by digging the NS records. There are many free third-party websites that you can use to dig your NS records.
Nameserver pointed to Media Temple
If your nameservers are pointed to NS1.MEDIATEMPLE.NET and NS2.MEDIATEMPLE.NET, then you will enter the DNS information in the Media Temple Account Center. By default, when you add a domain's zone files to your Media Temple account, it will automatically generate the required DNS. But if for some reason you need to manually enter them, we have a guide on how to do so:
Nameserver pointed to third-party host
If your nameservers are pointed at a different hosting company, then you will want to take the DNS records provided above, and contact the third-party host directly for instructions on how to edit/update DNS records on their side.
